Event goes 'to the dogs'

The city's swimming pool literally "went to the dogs" Sunday afternoon. The day after the pool closed for the season to humans, pool officials opened it up to a pool party for dogs from 2-5 p.m. A Parks and Recreation Departments spokesperson said the idea arose out of similar programs at other pools in the region...

Cape Girardeau newspaper executive Lage dies in accident

Wally Lage, vice president and chief operating officer of Rust Communications, died Thursday night in Maine, after slipping off a wharf. He was 66. Lage was widely known in the newspaper industry. He was also very active in the community. Among many involvements, he was a longtime member of the Lions Club and the Saint Francis Medical Center board of directors. He served on boards of numerous newspaper organizations, and was a member of the Missouri Press Association Hall of Fame...

Kite Family Reunion

Visiting at the Delbert (D.R.) Kite home on Aug. 15th was Mr. Kites' son Rex and family of Vancouver, WA. Mr. Kite had not seen his son in 24 years. There were lots of hugs and kisses plus a big BBQ was held. The grandparents Rose Niedling & Rex C. Kite plus Vida Weimer, Charlotte McKilibin & lots of cousins were there meeting for the first time. ...
