The Mountain Home School District will ask voters to approve a $34.5 million bond issue on Sept. 6 that would complete Phase II of the long-delayed high school project.

The 22nd Annual Three Island Crossing in Glenns Ferry will take place this weekend, Aug. 10-12.

The Owyhee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 15-year-old Utah boy on Aug. 2 in Bruneau.

To the citizens of Mountain Home: For the last two months the Girl Scouts have been working on the sculpture in Memorial (Triangle) Park. They have been fortunate to meet various good citizens looking forward to the completion of the work.

Dear editor: I do not know what it is like to hear and many more don't know what it is like not to hear. We live in a noisy world. To most people sounds are just sounds and not much attention is given to these sounds; sounds such as a bird singing, water dripping, and more importantly other people speaking.

The school bond that will go to the voters Sept. 6 has a high price tag, no question about it.

First and foremost, I applaud the heroism and bravery of firefighters everywhere. These amazing individuals willingly risk life and limb to protect life, land and property. They deserve the highest commendation for their backbreaking efforts.

H.B. (Chris) and Tamzy Christensen of Mountain Home have announced the engagement of their daughter, Tammie Christensen, to Jack D. Frair, son of Mary Ellen Frair of Ada, Okla.

Mae Louise Brock, 81, of Mountain Home, died Aug. 4, 2007, with her daughter and son-in-law by her bedside, after complications from surgery. A celebration of her life will be held at the Mountain Home Senior Center at Noon on Thursday, Aug. 9. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Mindy A. Harris, daughter of Allan Harris of Mountain Home and Debra Adams of Arlee, Mont., married Christopher E. Idleman, son of Charles and Marsha Idleman of Sullivan, Mo., on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at the Calvary Chapel in Boise.

Jerome Matthew Elliott, 21, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Mountain Home, was killed in Phoenix on Friday, July 27, 2007.

Ronald David Houston, 59, of Mountain Home, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his home.

Mr. and Mrs. Merlin (Chris) Christiansen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 31.

Paul J. Zarych, Jr., 60, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at a Boise hospital.

The 2007 Elmore County 10U Cal Ripken All Star's (Tigers) have returned from the state tournament, showing strong but failing to place.

There will be no trip north to Alaska for the Mountain Home Royals year. The Royals had to settle for second place at the Class A State American Legion Baseball Tournament in Hailey, after losing in the championship round to Bear Lake. The Northwest Regional is Aug. 16-23 in Anchorage, Alaska.

District Court --- Michael A. Glaspie, 28, had a felony charge for attempted strangulation that was dismissed by the prosecutor. Glaspie pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for battery-domestic violence that was amended to a misdemeanor for disturbing the peace. He was sentenced to 100 days jail time with 92 days suspended and was credited with eight days. Glaspie was placed on probation for one year. He had court costs of $72.50...

District Court --- Nora L. Rosales, 44, had a felony charge for non-support of children/desertion of wife that was dismissed by the prosecutor. Fred T. McDonald, 73, pleaded guilty to a felony charge for aggravated assault that was amended to a misdemeanor for exhibition or use of a deadly weapon...

Gunfighters will soon bid farewell to the 366th Fighter Wing's commander after the Air Force selected him for a new assignment in Colorado Springs, Colo.
