The annual Crazee Daze celebration kicks off Saturday in the downtown area, but the carnival for the event will open this afternoon at the former El Rancho lot across from Paul's Market. This year the Crazee Daze event features a "Mad Hatter" theme, and in addition to the regular contest for merchants, who win a traveling trophy, a special contest will be held for citizens attending the event...

County prosecutor Aaron Bazzoli has been selected by the state judicial council to be the next magistrate judge for Elmore County. Bazzoli will assume the bench upon the retirement of Judge John Sellmen in June. The current county prosecutor, in his second term of office, was one of seven candidates who had applied for the position, including two others from Elmore County, Phil Miller and Terry Ratliff...

Mountain Home High School's golf team hosted the rest of the SIC 4A teams at Desert Canyon Golf Course last Monday for a conference tourney, and both the Mountain Home girls had their best numbers of the season as both finished fifth. Bishop Kelly nipped Vallivue in the girls competition, 163-164. Nampa and Skyview tied for third, both shooting 188. Kuna was fifth with a 189, Mountain Home next with 219, and Emmett shot a 240. Kacy Barrie and Brandon Sloan both picked up first place finishes at Friday's Twin Falls Invitational Track and Field meet. Barrie won the girls 100 meter high hurdles and Brandon Sloan won the boys 1600 meter run.
