Here We Go, Folks
I knew it wouldn't be long...there is an "Ammunition Accountability Act" under way, that 18 states (thus far) are going to be entertaining on their House and Senate floors. (Idaho isn't one of them).
It would require all ammo manufacturers to put SERIAL NUMBERS on each projectile............and NONE of this ammo to be sold without registration of the buyer.......Who? How much? What caliber? I.D. and address required.
After June 30th, 2009...........only encoded ammo can be sold. Any privately-held UN-encoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2009. This of course would include HANDLOADS.
Now, it would be virtually impossible for the Feds to know about ammo we ALREADY have, but they could sure as heck ban manufacturing, or public sale of reloading components. I doubt seriously, that anyone is going to just take his "old ammo" out somewhere and just destroy it.............of course, you NEVER KNOW about some of these fools running around loose these days.
The whole concept is stupid. No little tiny stamping on a copper bullet jacket is going to withstand the heat and vortex of jacket expansion under fire.
No......what this is, is yet another way for them to see WHO has WHAT, as we're going to have to sign for our ammo if the state we live in goes along with this "invasion of privacy."
It's also going to raise the price of ammo, if the manufacturers have to spending the extra consuming time to have MILLIONS of bullets "code-stamped." during manufacture.
Part of the intent is "persistence." They couldn't get it done through the courts, so they'll try to do whatever it takes to hassle and hamper the honest............."Stiffen penalties for the hoods? Take away THEIR rights instead?..........are you kidding? No....let's just make it tougher and more discouraging for honest people, and maybe if we hound the bullet makers enough, and cause enough manufacturing restrictions, they'll just close their doors and quit."
Actually, they may just stop selling ammunition to the states that endorse this idiotic plan.............and that'll be just fine with "Big Brother."
It'll basically become ILLEGAL to even RELOAD your own ammo.
I've spent the better part of last night and today, tracking down the following information--------feel free to "double check" my list, if you so desire.

Incidently..................scanning the list of Senators and Representatives, looking to further impair our rights, do ANY of you happen to see what EVERY ONE of them have in common?
Every One of them.
