OK.....................What Now?
If you are one of those procrastinators, who never thought certain things could happen, but now realize that they can, and have just done a "reality check." This blog is just for you.
The day after the election, firearms sales went crazy. Dealers can't keep up, warehouses are being rapidly depleted, and manufacturers are being swamped with backorders. The "newly awakened" are in a panic, and justifiably so.
An awful lot of people knew the day would come when the "domestic enemies" might find themselves in a legislative position to destroy the Constitution and our gun rights along with it.
Still, a large majority did nothing.......the old "wait and see" game.
2008, going into 2009, the most anti-freedom regime this country has ever seen is lining up to assume power, and can virtually push every one of their old agendas through the system unopposed.
Knowing the libs are setting up shop to shut down manufacturing, re-establish lawsuits, and ban everything they can WHILE they can, you wake up one morning and suddenly realize that your 243 bolt action and the 2 boxes of ammo you MIGHT have for it, are in no way going to be enough. You might even have a 9mm Glock pistol in your nightstand, but the odds are pretty good that you never kept more than a box of 50 rounds for it.
NOW you find yourself going to gunshows, maybe for the first time and are seeing higher prices than you ever heard about. Whether at a show or a gunshop, you know that it is most likely going to turn into a "supply and demand" situation.
You know that after January 20th, nothing is for sure out there, and if you don't get what you need now, the opportunity is very likely to dry up. Guns & ammo aren't cheap.......Christmas is coming too........bad timing.
Well.........you don't need be Bill Gates to sufficiently protect yourself, so if you fit into this category, I'd make a few suggestions, for anyone who might be interested.
A handgun is ESSENTIAL, as it can be tucked away out of sight when necessary, and easily carried on one's person. It should be of adequate caliber, capable of squelching any "problem" on the spot! The best combination of stopping power, reliability and versatility I can think of is a double action 357 Magnum revolver, preferably Smith & Wesson or Ruger.
If you prefer a semi-auto pistol, I'd lean away from 9mm's as they are often "iffy" in stopping power, and even POLICE have had to hit drugged assailants 4 and 5 times to stop them.
40's are pretty good. 45's are better, and I think the Springfield is the best 45 for the money out there. The Kimber seems to get a lot of "ooh's and aah's", but you're paying for a lot of "ruffles and flourishes" as they say. The tried and true Springfield 1911, built on the original Colt design is the old "warhorse", as they say......drop 'em in the river, kick 'em around in the mud and they seem to just keep shooting!
And this is a positive attribute if you ever had to vacate to the hills, and couldn't clean your weapons as often as you'd like to. That 1911 design has been battle-proven in two world wars, Korea and Vietnam. They're tough.
NO arsenal should be without a 22. They're a great little small game getter, ammo is cheap and you can carry a lot of it, and depending on the ammo, they don't make a lot of noise. Marlin makes a dandy little 22 bolt action they call the model 925. It's not expensive, either.
You'll need a good high-powered rifle for bigger 4-legged game (survival), and it may easily come down to some 2-legged game as well (also survival). If you opt for a hunting rifle, it should be a bolt-action 30.06 by Ruger or Remington, or a 30-30 lever action by Marlin.
The brands I named, are guns I've found to be the most reliable, without being overly costly. Weatherby rifles for example, were for YEARS considered THE gun to have hanging on your wall. The satin finish, the inlay etchings....etc. At one time, they cost a third more than a Winchester or Remington.....but side-by-side, they shoot no better.
On the other hand, you need to avoid buying "too cheap". There are a TON of different manufacturers out there, a LOT of those you never heard of. They're cheaper in price........and often in quality. Firearms are one of those markets where you get what you pay for..........on the lower end of it, anyway.
A Sterling Arms 5-shot automatic can be had for around $200. There's a reason for that.
A Walther PPK is nearly $600...........there's a reason for THAT too!
If you have a family...packing 4 or even 5 firearms isn't too great a task. If you're by yourself, you'll obviously have to cut the list a might (or pre-bury) a couple in some secret place).
There is another reason for the CALIBERS I named.........besides being powerful enough......they are POPULAR enough to be had in the small towns, if you had to disperse.
A small town of 2500 people and ONE store that might sell ammo.................you'll find 357 MAGNUM, 30.06, 12 gauge shotgun................
......you WON'T find 204 Ruger, 17HMR or 220 Swift.
If you feel an "assault rifle" (I HATE that term, because it will eventually cover EVERYTHING in the eyes of the left), is going to be your "cup of tea", there is only ONE to consider. The AK-47.
No other combat rifle in history, (the lone exceptions being the larger & heavier American M-1 and M-14's), have been capable of sustaining the tremendous abuse and neglect of the AK-47.............like the Timex, it "takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
It is fairly light in weight, simple, shoots a 30 caliber round, and there's not an AR-15 in existence that can hang with an AK shot-to-shot. A week ago, you could still buy one for around $500, if you could find one. A week before the election, they were 350 to 400. December and January? Anybody's guess.
Shotgun? 12 gauge Remington or Mossberg, semi-auto or pump. Remington/Mossberg...because of value for the dollar. 12 gauge.....because of power and availability.
Those of us "paranoid, sky is falling, doomsdayers" as they say, have seen the handwriting on the wall long enough now, to have avoided having to jump through the hoop as the clock approaches midnight.
To those who HAVE to "jump"....if you want a handgun or "assault rifle", get THEM first! They are top priority on the Obama/Biden list and will be the first to come under siege.
The best guns in the world are useless without ammo. Gunshows are excellent places to buy in bulk, but time is important here also, as gunshow closures are also very high on the liberal list. The last Boise Gunshow before Obama takes over will be on January 10th & 11th, and I wouldn't miss it if I needed something.
Do NOT overlook "private party sales", as found in the classifieds. You can find some really good deals sometimes.........and CASH doesn't have your name on it. (That ALONE, is worth its weight in gold).
The LAST thing I can tell you...............I CAN'T tell you! What to do when they come to take them and turn you into a subject. We will face a decision all free men must eventually make..........to endure oppression, or resist.
They might "pry mine from my cold dead fingers", but the barrel will still be hot when they do.
