Not So "Merry Melodies"
Those of you out there old enough to remember those classic Warner Brothers cartoons, will remember at the very end, when Porky Pig emerged from the rainbow, stuttering....."Ibidee-ibidee-ibidee-ibidee-ibidee-that's ALL folks!"
That thought came quickly to mind, after watching our country, which once stood for something, go down the toilet last night.
A musician for nearly 40 years now, humming tunes and verses is a natural part of my day. As I sat here this morning with my first cup of coffee (and there'll be SEVERAL cups today, as I didn't sleep well last night)......I got to thinking that as long as our Constitution is going to be "open season" next year, they might as well come up with some other flag and for SURE, change the National Anthem while they're at it.
And the song that came into my mind IMMEDIATELY, was that old rock & roll tune from the early 70's......"Bye Bye Miss American Pie", also known as "The Day The Music Died."
Of COURSE I'm upset about the election, because I know what's coming. We have effectively allowed the media to trick us into endorsing our own collapse. (When I say "WE", I don't mean everybody), but enough of us willing to "sign the title over" managed to make it to the polls yesterday, and "some of us, SEVERAL times, eh?" That shows a certain sense of style and integrity. Not to mention the Black Panthers at the doors in Philadelphia. Everything on the "up and up."
My greatest disappointment naturally, is with the American people, who in times past, would not have been duped by the obvious. Some young, vibrant, slick-talking dude with no notable accomplishments comes out of the woodwork spouting "change" and darned if everybody didn't start running around like they were hatched yesterday.
Well, what's done is done. Charisma and charm has replaced common sense, but this is one fashion statement we're ALL gonna pay for.
Michael Savage (who sometimes gets a little off beam on his radio show), was never more right than he was last night. I went into the bedroom and watched a few old episodes of "Leave It To Beaver" which bespeaks in SPADES of happier times, but I could still faintly hear the main tv in the living room, where my wife was still watching the newscast.
I could hear the cheers from that park in Chicago, and Michael Savage's words were just as clear to me, as he often says...."Liberalism is a mental disorder."
Even THEY are going to find that out, and their panic will come when they themselves realize that they can't go back and undo it.
