New state lawmakers don’t even live here

Dear editor –

After an exhausting election season, I just realized that, beyond Christy Zito, I have no idea who will be representing Mountain Home in our state legislature. I don’t like gerrymandering voting districts from either side.

The new legislature district is Elmore County and parts of Valley and Custer counties. The people who won do not live in Mountain Home.

I didn’t see a sign and didn’t even know their names! If they didn’t bother to make the long drive to campaign during the election, I doubt we will see much of them going forward.

At least I knew our previous representatives and knew they cared about this community and the Air Force base. What do we have in common with Custer or Valley counties?

I am afraid Elmore County just got gerrymandered.
