Norma LaRue Erickson Munns
Norma LaRue Erickson Munns, 93, of Mountain Home, died Friday, September 20, 2024, in her home.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 27, at the Third Ward Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial followed at the Bruneau Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home.
LaRue was born July 23, 1931, to Arthur Erickson and Norma Norene Quayle in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the first of 5 children. She grew up on the farm and learned at a young age how to work hard and well.
She married Lysle George Munns in the Logan Temple on February 24, 1950. LaRue and her husband leased farm land and lived in different areas of Idaho, end-ing up in Mountain Home.
LaRue worked hard to help her husband farm. She was involved with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. She was a gifted seamstress making clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. She was an exceptional cook. While her family loved what she provided for them she also baked at the Gear Jammer Truckstop for over 10 years.
Next to her family and her faith, LaRue had a great love for music. She taught piano lessons for years and provided the organ music in her ward and stake for most of her life. She also served in the primary and relief society.
LaRue is survived by her daughters Marie Packham (Joel) of Burley, Elaine Grenko (Kevin) of Lindon, and son-in-law Steve Martin (Jane) of Mountain Home; William Erickson (brother) and Rolayne Ethington (sister); 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
LaRue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Jeannette Martin, one great grandchild, one brother, and one sister.
