Work begins on air tanker base

The Bureau of Land Management uses Single Engine Air Tanker, or SEAT, aircraft to battle wildland fires across Idaho each year.

BOISE – The Bureau of Land Management’s Boise District started construction this week on a single engine air tanker base at the Mountain Home Municipal Airport.

The Mountain Home Single Engine Air Tanker Base seeks to expand aircraft availability to respond more quickly to fight wildland fires in southwestern Idaho and the surrounding area, BLM officials said.
