Sally E. Shelton nee Harter, 67, of Blue Grass, Iowa; formerly of Kuna, Idaho; passed away Monday, July 15, 2024 at the University of Iowa. Funeral services to honor her memory will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:30 am at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm at Weerts Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Kuna Cemetery in Kuna, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sally’s name may be made to the Quad Cities Honor Flight, the Lions Club, or to the Blue Grass American Legion.

Sally was born on September 23, 1956 in Lansing, Michigan to Ronald Harter, Sr and Clara Avery. Following high school, she joined the United States Air Force. She served during the Vietnam War and retired in 1993 as a Master Sergeant. Sally was united in marriage to Presley “Dan” Shelton on June 21, 1986; he passed away in 1996. In addition to her time in the Air Force, Sally also served with the Idaho Air National Guard. Sally was a proud American and volunteered with the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion in both Blue Grass and Kuna; and the Lions Club. She loved to spend time in the outdoors, working on her garden or just reading a good book. Sally also enjoyed working on needlepoint projects, watching Old Western movies, camping with her camping club, square dancing with the River Cities Traveling Squares, the Quad Cities Christian Singles, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory are her children Sarah Otto, Stacy (Joe) Noble, and Kris (Keri) Shelton; daughter-in-law Randie Shelton; grandchildren Melinda (Matt) Harvey, Alycia Self, Jayson Overton, Bryce Overton, Kaydee (Cody) Brown, Jolleen Noble, Cody (Kaitlyn) Cardozz, Dylen Noble, Kenzi Shelton, and Tyler Shelton; great-grandchildren: Brodyn, Laurynn, Abigail, Charlie, Penelope, Easton, Kinlee, Madilyn, Kayden, and Logan; siblings: Ronald (Lori) Harter, Jr., Jodi Harter, Timothy “Tim” Harter, Rhonda (Bobbi) Harter, Theodore “Ted” (Bobbi) Harter, Mary (Ray) Gage and Wilbert (Lavon) Dukes, Jr.; her father Ronald Harter, Sr.; nieces and nephews: Chris (Karyn) Harter, Zack Harter, Tori (Brady) Paxton, Lisa Harter, Austin Harter, and Brandt Harter; special cousins: Tracy Brandt, Tanisha Brandt, and Aliesha Crooks; many special friends; extended family members; and her beloved dog Sidney.

She was preceded in death by her mother Clara Avery; stepmother Janice Harter; husband Dan Shelton; and son Tim Shelton.
