June 23rd 1950- July 6th 2024

On July 6th LaVerne Leo Bohn II, made the decision to stop further treatment of his illness and go out on his own terms. He left this world the way he lived. He had his loving family around him supporting his decision.

Verne served in the Navy and retired after twenty-plus years. He then came back to Idaho where he worked for J.R. Simplot and retired from there as well.

At the end of his life, he settled in Mtn Home, Idaho, with his better half, Betty. She stood by him every step of the way, and they loved each other very much. Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. She was right by his side as he passed. Verne and his first wife, Donna, had two sons: Erik (Joy) of Boise, Idaho, and John (Robyn) of Nampa, Idaho. He loved everything outdoors with his sons, from hunting and fishing to laughing and storytelling around a campfire.

Verne then met his second wife, Ruby, who preceded him in death after 20 years of marriage. With her came three bonus children: Patty of McCall, Idaho, Ben (Heidi) of Boise, Idaho, and Nick who preceded him in death. He accepted the challenge of a larger family (“hold my beer”) because he loved her, and grew to love us, too. All five of us kids became one big happy family. He was the kind

of man who loved all his kids, whether he brought them into this world or opened his heart and welcomed them in later. He was kindhearted, but with an onery streak which we all loved. If he was grumpy, he was still kicking, and that is all we cared about.

You could usually find him enjoying a cold Miller Lite, sitting along a riverbank fishing with his family, or cruising around the lake just him and Betty.

Verne is survived by Betty, his children, as well as many grandkids and great grandkids. He was an awesome grandpa, made sure to give the boys a hard time if their hair touched their ears, or if they had a piercing. You couldn’t take the military outta him, but it was all in good fun. The girls he spoiled, because well we were girls. He was a gentleman, a veteran, a son, a husband, a father, a

best friend, a grandpa, and a great-grandpa. But most of all he was our dad. We love him and we are going to miss him.

Celebration of life to be scheduled
