Rural Forestry Workforce

Senator Jim Risch has partnered up with Senator Angus King (I-Maine) to support Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Oregon) who has presented congress with a bill that could potentially improve the forestry and timber industries by increasing employment.

The Jobs in the Woods Act, is a grant program that has been designed to help train and fill the future forest workforce.

The bill would require the secretary of agriculture to establish a grant program to address forestry development needs to assist and fill positions in the timber and forestry industry with the depleting workforce.
