Barbara Sheffield
Lifelong Mountain Home resident Barbara Sheffield, age 79, passed away on August 12, 2022, at about 11:30am after a long course of treatment for cancer and other complications. In the days and moments leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by family and friends and passed peacefully in her sleep. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:00 A.M.
Barbara was born March 10, 1943 and remained proud of her family’s heritage as some of the oldest settling families in the Mountain Home area. The Lott, Beaman, Sharp family has deep roots in the community and Barbara lived most of her life in Mountain Home. She was a 1963 graduate of Mountain Home High School and a long serving member of the US Civil Service as a Contracting Officer at Mountain Home Air Force Base from 1980 to 2004.
Those who knew her would undoubtedly agree that she had an indomitable will and energy for her family and friends. She was renowned for straight talk to those who needed it and a source of enormous support for those lost or struggling to move forward. Her sprit, energy and quiet strength will be missed immensely by many.
It is nearly impossible to think of her without her husband Thomas A. Sheffield who passed away in May of 2020. They married in 1966 and remain happily married for the rest of his life (and albeit separated temporarily by his death two years ago), we are sure they are now reunited to continue, together, toward what lies ahead.
