Donna Morene (Farrington) Hardiman
Mrs. Donna Morene (Farrington) Hardiman, 86, of Meridian Idaho, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
Donna Morene and her twin sister Monna Arlene Farrington were born in Meridian Idaho, to Opal and Cecil Farrington on April 27, 1935. Monna was ill from birth and died in 1946. Donna grew up in Meridian, played clarinet in the Meridian High School Marching Band until she graduated in 1953, and went on to the St. Alphonsus nurses training program, which she proudly graduated from in August 1956.
August 19, 1956, the same week she graduated from Nurses Training, Donna married the love of her life, William “Bill” Hardiman, and they “set off down the Alcan Highway for Alaska (Anchorage).” This is where Bill was stationed in the US Air Force, and Donna would begin her nursing career, starting as an emergency room nurse, but later specializing in maternity/OB nursing.
Donna and Bill welcomed their daughter Cecyle in 1964. Donna doted on Cecyle, her pride and joy, keeping a lifetime of secrets, inside jokes, and always making time for that nightly conversation, even in the years when the phone calls were long distance.
As Bill was reassigned stations, Donna moved around the country with him, working in emergency rooms, and delivering babies in Abilene Texas, Mountain Home Idaho, and Sacramento California, before returning to Mountain Home to settle when Bill retired from the Air Force in 1970.
Donna and Bill would spend the next 34 years in Mountain Home, building treasured friendships among the community. After her retirement, when Donna and Bill weren’t busy with their grandkids, their garden, or traveling the country in their van, Donna volunteered her time with the 366th medical group on the Mountain Home Air Force Base, winning numerous ‘Retiree Volunteer of the Quarter’ Awards, leading to ‘Retiree Volunteer of the Year’ Award in 1992.
Bill was a proud and dedicated member of the Mountain Home Elks Lodge, and Donna was an Elkette. Donna, Esther Wolfgang, Marie Bollinger and a close-knit group of ladies worked tirelessly on many dinners, bazaars, fundraisers and more, Donna was once honored as Elkette of the year. She and her fellow Elkette’s, friends for life, took such pride in their 3 decades of volunteering talent, and love to a community they adored so much. Donna took the most pride in her family, and how she cared for them.
In 2003 Donna and Bill returned to Meridian so she could care for her mother, and in 2005, after losing Bill, Donna really dedicated herself to her family, and “helping to get these kids raised.”
‘Nana’ never told a lie, she always made sure no one was left out, no matter who’s birthday it was, or that no one ever spent a second alone when they were sick and everyone always had an ear to listen to them, a heart to cry to, and a place to laugh. She loved the Oregon Coast, and is the reigning Skip Bo Champion of the HardBrock clan. Donna was also an avid slot machine player, say "Jackpot" and she was ready to go. She achieved so much, all while never reaching 5 feet tall, leaving a void that will never be filled.
Donna’s ‘Welcome to Heaven committee’ is no doubt led by the love of her life Bill. She also joins her Grandparents Chloe and Everette Pfost, her parents Opal and Cecil, her twin sister Monna, and many others. Those of us lost without her here are her daughter Cecyle Brock, son-in-law Kirk, Granddaughter Katie (Zach) Grandson Brent (Abby), Grandson Trevor (Stephanie). Also missing their Nana, are her 5 great grandchildren, Alex, Sofia, McKellen, Jase, and Quinn. She also leaves behind her sister in law Dolly Morrison, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and dear friends Kelly Johnson, and Terry Nichols of Meridian, along with many, many other friends.
Services will be held at 2:30pm Saturday, March 19th, 2022 Cloverdale Funeral Home 1200 N Cloverdale Rd. Meridian, followed by a Celebration of life at Deja Brew Laugh a Latte, 112 E Idaho, Meridian, ID
