Mayor Sykes, city employees and friends join Gene Palmer of the Street Department and Councilman Matt Bundy as they cut a ceremonial ribbon to celebrate the completion of the “18th Street Project.”

The city of Mountain Home saw a long term project come to final fruition with the opening of South 18th after a ribbon cutting Monday morning July 29. This section of 18th Street has been closed for many months during construction. The project involved the past and current administrations having a vision of the 18th street project, "where the past and the present came together to finish this project that starting in 2009, yes I did say 2009", said Mayor Rich Sykes.

Mayor Sykes reported, "this project cost $2.4 million dollars that included the street, sidewalks, curbs and cutters. This included the city's portion of the street light and work at the intersection of American Legion and 18th."
