In July, the Elmore County Baseball League's 12U All Stars team were in the midst of making town and league history. A team that showcased high batting averages throughout the season headed into the state tournament on the Fourth of July weekend with an impressive record of 12-4. Only a few days prior to that a member of the team took second place at the Mariners Team Pitch, Hit and Run Championship at Safeco Field in Seattle, WA. He did not make it to the national stage to compete, but plans to make it in 2019.
They went on to win the state tournament in Moscow. Two weeks later the team was sent off in style as Third Street was filled with emergency responder vehicles with lights flashing and sirens blaring. The boys were paraded through town on the top of a MHFD fire engine before being run through the gauntlet of two other engines with their water going. After the soaking wet boys received well wishes from the community they were off for a last minute practice and then headed back to Moscow for the Regional Championship. Although their season ended that weekend they made the community proud with their accomplishments.
