Verda Mae Dixon
Verda Mae Dixon, 81, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at Ashley Manor, in Mountain Home, on Wednesday, October 11, 2018. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Verda was born in Wendell, ID, on December 9, 1936 to Alma and Lena (Clark) Billman.
Verda lived to serve others, whether it was her family, her friends, or a stranger. She loved serving as a nurse’s aide, home care, and in food service at the flight line grill and cafeteria on the Mountain Home AFB.
Her love for God was evident to all who knew her. She spoke of him as naturally as she breathed and longed to go to heaven to be with him. As much as we will miss her, we rejoice that her prayer has been answered.
Verda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted; sister, Bernadine; son-in-law, Robert Austin; and great grandchild, Zach.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (David) Harris, Connie Austin, Gayla (Don) Becker, and Michael (Kathy) Beckwith, step children, Danny Dixon and Sandra Argus, seventeen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, sisters Mickey Betts, Merna (Jerry) Oliver and Verna (Richard) Alumbaugh, many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Special thanks to Millie Westphal of Destiny’s Door; Encompass Health Care & Hospice, especially Danielle and Brittney; and Ashley Manor for all their compassion and loving care of Verda.
Memorial contributions in Verda’s name can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or donor’s choice.
