Martha Ruby Hall Stamm
Martha Stamm rode home on horseback with angels on September 5, 2018 after having lived a full life of 92 years. She was born in Boise on March 5, 1926 and was the older of two daughters born to Adin & Ruby Hall. Martie was raised on the family cattle ranch on Bennett Creek between Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry. She learned to work cattle at an early age. She worked right beside the hired hands riding herd, roping and branding cattle and was known to “out-work” a few of the men. Martie was raised to work hard, stand her ground and be independent; lessons that served her well throughout her life.
Martie was a very social person and was very active in several organizations throughout her life including Lady Elks, Rebecca’s, Red Hats, and most recently Easter Star. She also served on the Board of the Kamiah Senior Center. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, traveling, and loved to play Bridge and Pinochle. She was known to “cut a rug” and “throw back a toddy” in her younger years.
Martie graduated from Glenns Ferry High School in 1944 and attended University of Idaho where she met her first love, John Mast. Martie and John were married in 1945 and had 4 daughters. Martie latter married the last love of her life, Joseph Stamm from Nampa, Idaho. After Joe died in 1991, Martie moved to Kamiah to be near family.
Martie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Celia Thompson, husband Joe Stamm and daughter Martie McCormick.
Martie is survived by her daughters; Sharon (Steve) Schroeder of Medford, Oregon; Merry (Gary) Leach of Kamiah; Toni Ann (Dee) Edwards of Prospect, Oregon; niece/5th daughter Pene’ (Larry) Lloyd of Rupert, Idaho; son-in-law Brian McCormick of Gold Hill, Oregon; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-granddaughter and 2 grand nephews.
According to Martie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home on October 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Joe and parents Adin and Ruby.
Memorial donations may be made to Easter Star Kamiah Chapter, P.O. Box 125 Kamiah, ID. 83536 or the Kamiah Senior Center, P.O. Box 551, Kamiah, ID. 83536.
