Edgar Junger
Edgar Junger passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home with family members by his side. A graveside inurnment service with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Mountain View Cemetery, in Mountain Home. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Edgar was born in Sagan Germany on July 10, 1939 and was raised from the age of six weeks to age 15 by his Aunt and Uncle in Berlin Germany. This is where he met his future wife, Erika. In 1954 he immigrated with his Mother and Step Dad to the U.S.A.
In September of 1958 he joined the United States Air Force where he served 22 years and retired with a rank of Master Sergeant. His military assignments took him to Florida, Canada, France, California, Thailand, Vietnam, England, Germany, and his last assignment was Mountain Home Air Force Base.
In 1958, through his Aunt and Uncle, he contacted his old playmate, Erika. They corresponded through letters for three years. When he visited his family in Berlin he also spent time with Erika. One year later, in 1962, he came back and spent his leave time with Erika and her family. During this time they got engaged. In 1963, during a short leave time, he went back to Berlin where he and Erika got married on his birthday, July 10. One day after the wedding he had to return to the U.S.A. In November, 1963, he received PCS orders to France and was lucky that he could extend his orders to a three year tour. His wife followed him from Berlin to France where one year later their son Ralph was born. Three years later their daughter, Ramona, was born in California.
He is survived by his wife Erika of 54 years of marriage. Son Ralph and his wife Nancy Junger. Daughter Ramona and husband Terry Lydell. Granddaughter Chelsea and husband Travis VanMeer also his Great Granddaughter Tessa VanMeer.
A special thank you to his longtime friend, hunting and fishing buddy, Paul Spolski for all his help. Also to Treasury Valley Hospice, Dr. Lazarte, Nurse Bobbi, CNA Brenda and all other caretakers for their outstanding care that was given to Edgar.
