Margaret Gillespie
Margaret Patricia (Fudger) Gillespie of Mountain Home passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at St. Luke’s Elmore Hospital in the presence of her family.
Margaret was born on Feb. 7, 1927 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Preceding in death are her parents Winifred and John Fudger, originally from England, her brother Jack of Vancouver, British Columbia, her infant daughter Barbara Mae Gillespie of Gooding and her beloved husband Vernon L. Gillespie who passed on June 26, 2014.
Margaret is survived by her brother Tom Fudger of Vancouver, British Columbia his wife Peggy and their daughter Diane, her sons Kent J. Gillespie of Rupert and Craig T. Gillespie of Bruneau. Kent’s wife Donna R. Gillespie, their daughter Sarah Gillespie, son Brian Gillespie and his wife Stephanie, Craig’s son Hadley Folkman, his wife Cassandra and their children Brylee and Roan and Craig’s daughter Lyndie Easterday and her husband Dusty. Margaret still has numerous surviving family members residing in Canada.
In the late 1940s Margaret left her family’s home in Canada to journey to the United States to attend nursing school in Salt Lake City. Vern and Margaret met in Salt Lake City while they were both in school and wed on Dec. 20, 1950, they were married 64 years. After their marriage, they moved to southern Idaho and have resided in Mountain Home since 1955.
Margaret was known, personally and professionally, as a nurse with a kind and giving spirit. The Gillespie’s were well-known in the community and enjoyed many good friends. Margaret was a talented quilter, spending much of her time quilting with friends and creating masterpieces for her family.
Margaret’s family will remember her as a generous woman who lived a full life.
Per her request, no services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
