Twin Falls man critically injured in mutli-vehicle crash
A Twin Falls man remains in critical condition at a Boise hospital following a multi-vehicle crash that blocked the eastbound side of the interstate for nearly four hours Tuesday afternoon.
Antonio Vega, 23, was driving a 2004 Mack concrete pump truck when it collided with a trailer being pulled by a 2002 Volvo semi-truck driven by Pavel Priymak, 52, of Vancouver, Wash.
According to a press statement released by the Idaho State Police on Wednesday, Priymak had slowed his truck due to traffic, which was slowing or stopped due to an earlier crash reported in the eastbound side of the interstate at milepost 81.
The force of the collision pushed Priymak's semi into three vehicles in front of him. Those involved in the crash included a juvenile driving a 2004 Mazda MZ3, a 2012 Dodge dually pickup driven by Steven Dunbar, 54, of Ligonier, Ind., and a 2009 GMC Yukon driven by Pamela Palacios, 52, of Poway, Calif.
In addition, Priymak's truck sideswiped a 2008 Infinity FX3 driven by Svetlana Movsesyan, 64, of Twin Falls who was traveling in the left lane next to his semi.
All vehicles involved in the accident remained upright and came to rest blocking the eastbound lanes of travel.
Vega was flown by air ambulance while Dunbar was taken by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Dunbar was treated and later released while the occupants in the other vehicles were reportedly uninjured.
In addition to blocking the interstate for nearly four hours, the right lane remained blocked for an additional 1.5 hours while the crash was being investigated and crews worked to clear the scene.
