Charles Todtenbier
Charles "Chuck" Eugene Todtenbier passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the age of 84. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His hearty laughter and love of life will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Chuck met Dorothy, his high school sweetheart, in Grand Prairie, Texas, and were soon married. After a short stay in Texas, they moved to Indianapolis, Ind., and then on to Glasgow, Ky.
In 1957, they moved to California, where he started his career in custom home building that spanned 45 years. Part of the joy in building came through his creative business partners and dear friends, Lee and Jim Kyles. They had immense fun together both in work and play.
Chuck and Dorothy moved to Mountain Home in 2001 after retirement to be near his kind and generous sister and nephew, Mary Tucker and Craig Higgins.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and always liked to sit along a shoreline waiting for that rod tip to wiggle so he could share the next big fish story with everyone.
Chuck is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy of 66 years, daughter Kathy (Bill), son Mike, sister Mary (Sidney), eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Rick, and daughter, Debbie.
Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
