Honoring the voices of democracy

Ralph W. Binion III, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5423 in Mountain Home, presents a certificate to Jamie Rojos after the Mountain Home High School junior won the local Voice of Democracy contest, held recently. Rojos, who earned the honor for her speech titled, "My Responsibility to America," went on to compete at the VFW's regional-level event, where she earned an honorable mention. During the local level of competition, Jasmine Patton, a seventh grader at Mountain Home Junior High School, earned the post's Patriot's Pen honor for her essay titled, "The America I Believe In."
