Local firefighters preparing for international stairclimb

Elsa Guillen and Hank Patrick, shown here as they prepared for last year's event, will join more than 2,000 firefighters from around the world during the 26th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb on March 12.

Step by step, two firefighters from the Mountain Home Fire Department will tackle a yearly challenge next month as part of an ongoing quest to find a cure for cancer.

Elsa Guillen and Hank Patrick will join more than 2,000 firefighters competing in the 26th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, scheduled for March 12 at the Columbia Center in Seattle.
