Lady Tigers fall to Emmett, post win against Vallivue
The Lady Tigers were unable to overcome a first half scoring deficit as they fell to Emmett but rebounded two days later as they beat Vallivue as the girls varsity basketball season continued last week.
Mountain Home 56, Emmett 64
Emmett went on 10-point lead right out of the gate as they hosted the Lady Tigers on Nov. 30. After four missed lay ups, Mountain Home finally got a shot to fall.
At the end of first quarter, the Lady Tigers were down, 9-20. At the start of the second, Adrie Blanksma dumped a three-pointer to start the Lady Tigers' offensive drive.
After two minutes of back-and-forth action, Jazzi Cristobal hit another three with Mountain Home trailing by six, 27-34, at the half.
The Lady Tigers couldn't catch a break in the third with Blanksma, Jacey Carr and Sable Loehmier on the bench in foul trouble. In the final minutes, Mountain Home couldn't recover from fouls with the game turning into a foul-shooting contest with the Lady Tigers falling short.
Cristobal led the Lady Tigers with 19 points with Kylie Meadows adding 17 along with 13 rebounds and three assists. Blanksma finished the evening with nine points and three assists.
Others scoring for Mountain Home were Emalee Pippin with four, Sable Lohmeier with three and Carr and Anna Pedroza with two apiece. The loss dropped Mountain Home to 3-2 and 1-1 in conference.
Mountain Home 53, Vallivue 48
The Lady Hawks started out fast and well prepared for the Lady Tigers on Friday as Mountain Home dealt with its second away game of the week. At the end of the first quarter, it looked like Mountain Home was going to have a long night with the Lady Tigers trailing by 10 at the end of the opening quarter.
The second quarter saw the Lady Tigers starting to come alive with Adrie Blanksma going three-for-three and Mountain Home out scoring the Lady Hawks, 16-12. However, Mountain Home was still down, 25-31, at the end of the second quarter.
When the Lady Tigers came out of the locker room to start the second half, Coach Keener had the team fired up. Mountain Home hit the floor running and shooting, holding Vallivue to just four points while scoring 18 points to put the Lady Tigers ahead, 43-35.
The fourth quarter saw two teams not willing to lose. Although the Lady Hawks out scored Mountain Home, it wasn't enough to make the lead change with the Lady Tigers walking away with the win.
Adrie Blanksma led Mountain Home with 21 points with Jazzi Cristobal adding 10. Kylie Meadows added eight along with seven rebounds and Jacey Carr dropped in four points and two assists.
Others scoring for the Lady Tigers were Emalee Pippin and Sable Lohmeier with four points apiece and Anna Pedroza with two.
The Lady Tigers return home today, Dec. 7, as they face the Lady Cougars from Caldwell High School. On Friday, they play host to Bishop Kelly's Lady Knights in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
