Senior center ice cream fundraiser set

The Mountain Home Senior Center hosts an ice cream social from 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 as part of its "Save the Kitchen" campaign.

Connie Cruser, a member of the senior center's board of directors, promised that the ice cream social will offer some of the best homemade vanilla ice cream to local residents.

The event will also feature other treats that people can buy during the event, including homemade cookies and cakes.

The capital campaign is scheduled to run through the next year with a goal of raising $365,000 to refurbish the center's kitchen. Most of the major appliances currently in the facility are more than 30 years old.
