Book nook feature opens at city library
The Friends of the Mountain Home Public Library will celebrate the debut of a new effort on Thursday that promotes reading while helping raise money for the city library.
The Sunflower Book Nook represents a "permanent book sale" project headed by the library friends group expands its existing book sales that happen at the front desk.
A ceremony to dedicate the new program begins at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the library.
The book nook, located in the sunny northeast back corner of the library, features nearly 3,000 books and audio books. The group charges $1 for hardbacks, DVDs and CDs with paperbacks and childrens' books going for 50 cents each. The books and other items were previously donated to the library with the sales going toward various programs the friends group hosts throughout the year.
The Sunflower Book Nook opens during the library's regular hours. The library friends group welcome all residents in the local area to check out their new, expanded selection of bargain books, said group spokesman Pete Humm.
