City council addresses issues during public meeting

A new business development effort and a candidate running for the state supreme court highlighted the discussion as the city council meet Aug. 8.

After a few starts and goes, the city council established a quorum with Councilman Rich Urquidi and Mayor Rich Sykes unable to attend the meeting due to prior obligations.

Urquidi planned to attend the meeting through a conference call system. However, cellphone reception problems prevent him from connecting with the council. Meanwhile, the mayor was on a city business trip to Singapore.

  • Why not cancel a meeting where no one attends. Surly these people knew they had other commitments and could have picked a new date. Dedication to your profession..........yup, dedication. Try planning ahead once. This is getting too common an occurence.

    So a meeting was held but those overseeing the meeting were not physically present? WTH? Pick a different date and actually show up.
