Virginia "Ginger" de la Motte
Virginia "Ginger" de la Motte, 87, a longtime resident of Mountain Home, passed away on June 21, 2016, at St. Alphonsus Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Lincoln, Neb., on Aug. 23, 1928, to Harold Fraas and Caroline Vetter Fraas. Her family moved to LaConner, Wash., where she graduated from Everett High School in 1945.
After graduating, her family moved back to Kearney, Neb., where she met and married 1st Lt. Harold M. de la Motte, an Army Air Force pilot. They raised three children, Wayne, Laurie and Gary, while traveling to various Air Force bases around the U.S. and Japan.
After Harold's Air Force retirement, they settled in Mountain Home. Ginger worked for Civil Service for many years as a Housing Referral Officer at Mountain Home Air Force Base, which she greatly enjoyed. Ginger served in the American Legion Post 26 Auxiliary for 40-plus years and was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was a faithful attendee.
Ginger had the gift of hospitality and loved hosting events with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing pinochle with friends every Sunday night.
Ginger was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Virginia is survived by her children, Wayne de la Motte; Laurie and her husband, Ed Howell; and Gary de la Motte and his wife, Lynn; along with six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Mountain View Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Arrangements under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
