Airman found dead at local residence

An airman from Mountain Home Air Force Base was found dead at his residence in Mountain Home on Tuesday.

Senior Airman Derek Keysor, 27, was discovered by squadron leadership, who visited his home around 5 p.m. that afternoon after he was reported absent from his duty section.

A native of of Manchester, Ohio, Keysor was an assistant dedicated crew chief with the 366th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at the base. Mountain Home was his first duty station following his initial training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, in 2012.

"The loss of any airman is a tragedy," said Col. Jefferson O'Donnell, 366th Fighter Wing commander. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends, family and coworkers."

Significant awards and achievements he received during his career include the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

The circumstances of Keysor's death remain under investigation.
