Trump wins in Elmore County, Cruz finishes second
Businessman Donald Trump received the most votes among Elmore County voters to lead the list of Republican contenders during Tuesday's presidential primary.
Trump held a commanding lead among local voters with 1,252 votes, according to initial results released by the Elmore County Elections Office.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz finished second with 892 votes, representing nearly 32 percent of the 2,821 ballots counted that evening in the Republican race.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio received 378 votes to finish third while Ohio Governor John Kasich was fourth with 209.
Only three votes were cast in Elmore County for those registered with the state's Constitution party. Scott Copeland received two of the votes with Patrick Ockander receiving the other and J.R. Myers finishing with none.
