Tigers fall to Bishop Kelly in conference tennis action
The Mountain Home Tigers hosted the Bishop Kelly Knights last week in conference tennis at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts. The match was originally scheduled for last Tuesday, was moved to Thursday due to bad weather.
The Knights blanked the Tigers, 7-0, in both girls and boys matches.
In girls singles, Kira Anderson lost the first singles match, 0-6, 2-6. Tia Senger was blanked in the second match and Samantha Scobee dropped the third singles match, 2-6, 0-6.
In girl doubles, Kaycee Crockett and Mariah Butori lost the first doubles match, 1-6, 1-6, and Kierianna Chavez and Mellinna Grimmius lost the second match, 0-6, 0-6.
In boys singles, Brad Foreman lost the first singles match, 1-6, 1-6. Eddie Guadarrama battled hard in the second match but lost, 3-6, 4-6, and Thomas Fatzinger dropped the third match, 1-6, 0-6.
In boys doubles, Jarek Schetzle and Nathan Gibbons lost the first doubles match, 4-6, 0-6, and Dalton Barker and Marc Pelletier lost the second doubles match, 3-6, 0-6.
In mixed doubles, Miguel Pelletier and Samantha Feekes lost the first doubles match by default, and Alex Bucholz and Mady McCurdy lost the second match, 0-6, 2-6.
Mountain Home competed in a mixed doubles tournament at Middleton on Friday with the host Vikings, Kuna, Skyview and Emmett. Each school provided nine mixed doubles teams with each team participating in one of the nine draws.
"Our players battled hard, but couldn't make it into any of the finals of the nine separate draws," said Tigers tennis coach Tamzy House.
This week, the Tigers take to the road, traveling to Skyview on Tuesday, Kuna on Thursday and Sun Valley on Friday to take on The Community School. The Tigers junior varsity squad will host Skyview and Kuna on Tuesday and Thursday before traveling with the varsity team to Sun Valley on Friday.
