Lillian started her mortal journey on a snowing morning on Dec. 6, 1938. She was born in Ogden, Utah, to Russell Coleman Shupe and Jewell Jones Shupe. She joined an older sister, Barbara, and was followed by seven other siblings.
The family moved from North Ogden, Utah, to Eagle, Idaho, when Lillian was 10 years old, where they farmed 80 acres. These years were where she learned her work ethic.
She was educated in the Eagle and Meridian school system and graduated from Meridian High School in 1957.
Lillian moved to Boise after graduation and began her working years. She waitressed at The Hody Partner Drive Inn for two years, and that is where she met her sweetheart and husband to be, Sherman Henry Stump Jr. They were married on June 27, 1959, in Boise in the LDS 7th Ward Chapel. Their marriage was later solemnized on Dec. 6, 1975, in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity.
During their marriage, they moved several times for Sherman's work. Wherever they moved, she always found work to help support their growing family. The last move to the family was to Glenns Ferry, and this would be home to them for 48 years and where Sherm worked for Farm Development Corporation for Alan and Mark Noble and where she worked for the Corner Market and then 15 years at Penner & Fink Insurance Agency. She was a people person and loved working with the public.
Lillian was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her calling began at the age of 14 and continued throughout her lifetime. Some of her callings included Primary President and teacher, Sunday school teacher, Young Women's President, Relief Society President and teacher, Stake Primary Board and many other callings.
Lillian's whole life was devoted to her beloved Eternal sweetheart and to her seven wonderful and special children.
Sherm and Lil were totally involved in their children's lives -- teaching them the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to love the Savior. They also followed them with their sports, music, enjoying and teaching them to love the outdoors, such as hunting, fishing and camping.
She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3646 in Glenns Ferry.
Some of Lil's favorite things to do were gardening and tending her flower beds. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, cake decorating and family genealogy research. She loved quilting and all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, plus many of her friends have been recipients of her beautiful and warm quilts.
She has often said that she has been truly blessed by her Heavenly Father during her life. With a wonderful husband and seven wonderful children. Her life has been full of many rich blessings.
She lost her beloved sweetheart, Sherm, of 50 years on Nov. 1, 2009. They are now reunited together for all time and eternity. Their love is eternal.
