Woman charged with shooting her husband

Monday, October 20, 2014

Cassandra Alvarez, 26, of Mountain Home, was arrested without incident Monday, charged with aggravated battery for allegedly shooting her husband in the arm with a handgun at their residence on the west side of town.

No further details of what police were describing as a domestic violence incident were immediately available as the incident remains under investigation.

Police received the report at roughly midnight, late Sunday or early Monday morning.

The victim was transported to a Boise area hospital by ambulance where he was scheduled for surgery.

Alvarez is an employee at the Elmore County Detention Center (jail), which is run by the sheriff's office. She has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation by city police and the Idaho State Police, part of standing procedure at the sheriff's office.

She was arraigned on the charges Monday and posted the $50,000 bond set by the court.

  • How is Alvarez detained at the same jail she is employed at.If I recall. This is not the first employee to be arrested and detained there.

  • Its the only jail in town. They aren't going to send her to Ada county or any others since her court appearances will be in Elmore.
