Soccer squad earns first win
The Lady Tigers picked up their first conference win of the season last week with a win over Kuna.
Earlier in the week, they lost to Skyiew and dropped a game at Twin Falls.
Skyview 4, Mountain Home 1
Skyview scored three unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from Mountain Home on its way to a 4-1 conference win in girls soccer a week ago Monday.
Maddison Roche tied the game at 1-1 with a first half goal, but the Lady Tigers could not get any more through the net.
Missy Jessup had 15 saves on goal for Mountain Home.
"It was a real tough one," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Kent Ogaard after the game. "At halftime I was fully confident that we were going to come back and win this game. Again, like I talked about last week, our execution in the second half just wasn't there.
"One-on-one we were pretty much running the ball, but as soon as we got it, we were giving it away easy, letting them fill spaces where we should have been. The girls know what to do, they know how to execute, it's just sometimes putting it all together, making it happen when it needs to happen."
Mountain Home 5, Kuna 2
The Lady Tigers picked up their first conference win last Wednesday at Kuna, beating the Lady Kavemen, 5-2.
Violet Martinez scored three goals for Mountain Home, Jacey Carr had an assist and a goal and Maddison Roche also had a goal for the Lady Tigers, who improved to 1-3 in conference and 3-6 overall.
"We had excellent control by our midfield," said Coach Ogaard.
"Maddison Roche helped our midfield distribute the ball and for plenty of striker opportunities to get the ball in the net. We had a good back line, with Christa Lewis back there helping in the center, and Missy Jessup as captain stepped up as usual directing from the back position.
"We know we're going to see them again and we're not taking them lightly. We're feeling confident getting that first district win."
Twin Falls 5, Mountain Home 0
The Lady Tigers dropped a 5-0 non-conference game at Twin Falls on Saturday.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers drop to 3-7 on the season. They are back in conference play this week, hosting Caldwell on Tuesday to complete their first time through their conference schedule.
Mountain Home starts the second time through conference play today (Oct. 1) when the team travels to Skyview for a 6:30 p.m. game with the Lady Hawks.
