Tax deadlines approach
Local residents have until 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, to submit their state and federal tax returns to the Mountain Home Post Office to meet this year's filing deadlines.
The post office will accept tax returns from those opting to mail their returns throughout the day to ensure the envelopes receive an April 15 postmark.
Those unable to get to the post office here by Tuesday's deadline should take them to the Boise Post Office Plant at 2201 South Cole Road by midnight that evening.
Meanwhile, the Idaho Tax Commission office at 800 Park Boulevard in the Washington Group Plaza in Boise offers curb side service from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to allow taxpayers to drop off returns without getting out of their car. In addition, state tax employees will hand out tax forms, including federal extension requests. They will also accept all state returns as well as federal returns without payments.
In addition, homeowners who qualify for the Idaho Property Tax Reduction "Circuit Breaker" program and those filing for the Idaho Property Tax Deferral program must submit their applications by Tuesday's deadline.
The state tax commission office opens from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 334-7660 or toll free at 800-972-7660 or visit the commission's Web site at www.tax.idaho.gov.
