Despite win over Jerome, Tigers' tennis team falters at net

The Mountain Home Tigers girls tennis team picked up a win at Jerome. Earlier in the week, they lost to Caldwell at Caldwell.

The Mountain Home Tigers dropped a conference tennis match at Caldwell last Thursday, losing the girls' match 5-2 and the boys' 6-1.

Mountain Home's wins in the girls' match came in the singles matches.

Karina Guadarrama won the second singles match in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Kiana Galloway won the third singles match 6-1, 6-2. Heidi Rawlins lost a close first singles match 4-6, 6-7 (TB 3).

In girls' doubles, Emily Gillies and Rubi Martinez lost the first doubles match 0-6, 2-6, and Kira Anderson and Samantha Feekes lost the second doubles match 2-6, 1-6.

Mountain Home's lone win in the boys' match came in the first doubles as Brad Foreman and Haydon Draper won in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Marc Pelletier and Mathew McLean lost the second doubles match 2-6, 0-6.

Mountain Home dropped the boys' singles matches. Jared Shaw and Toren Lombardo lost the first and third singles matches by 0-6, 0-6 scores, and Austin Griswold battled three sets in the second singles match before losing 1-6, 6-4, 4-6.

Mountain Home lost both mixed doubles matches. Nick Vogl and Kaitlyn Stevens lost the first doubles match 1-6, 0-6 and Dalton Barker and Monica Spinazzolo dropped the second match 1-6, 1-6.

The Mountain Home girls picked up another win Saturday, beating Jerome 5-2 at Jerome. The Mountain Home boys lost to Jerome 4-3.

In girls' action, Heidi Rawlins and Karina Guadarrama won in singles matches. Rawlins won the first match 6-2, 6-0, and Guadarrama won the second match in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Kira Anderson lost the third singles match 2-6, 2-6.

Mountain Home also picked up a win in the girls second doubles match, as Emily Gillies and Rubi Martinez won in three sets 7-5, 2-6, 7-5. Katelyn McKenzie and Samantha Feekes lost the first doubles match in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 2-6.

Mountain Home dropped all three boys' singles matches to Jerome. Marc Pelletier lost the first singles match 1-6, 1-6, Nathan Gibbons lost the second match 0-6, 0-6 and Nick Vogl dropped the third match in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6.

Mountain Home won both boys' doubles matches, as Brad Foreman and Hayden Draper won the first match 6-0, 6-0 and Timothy Austin and Miguel Pelletier won the second match 6-3, 6-2.

Mountain Home's other win came in mixed doubles as Dalton Barker and Monica Spinazzolo won the second match 6-2, 6-0. Austin Griswold and Kiana Galloway lost the first match 3-6, 0-6.

Mountain Home is on the road for conference matches this week. They were at Skyview High School in Nampa on Monday and will travel to Nampa High on Thursday, April 10.

Their next home match is Monday, April 14, against Columbia beginning at 2 p.m. at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts.
