George Hooley
A man who brought so much fun and laughter to all of our lives was welcomed by Father God into his forever home on March 13, 2014.
He was living in Fort Worth, Texas at the time of his death.
He was born into Willard and Ola Hooley's home on Feb. 15, 1941, in Harper County, Kan. His father often quoted, "Blessings on thee, little man, barefoot boy, with cheeks of tan," by John Greenleaf Whittier. He was "'The Boy" who came into this home after the arrival of three girls, a welcomed change.
He moved with his family to Indian Cove, Idaho, in November 1941.
He went to grade school in Hammett where he was a challenge to his teachers and provided lots of laughter for his classmates. He graduated from Glenns Ferry High School in 1959.
He was a man of excellence, who could repair anything and always went the "extra mile." He was an animated storyteller, a gifted teacher and a man of his word.
George left behind three sisters: Evanna Hamilton, Evelyn Hamilton and Grace Lindgren, who will miss his encouragement and prayers. He was the life of "our" party.
In February of 1964 he married Joanna Maier of Nampa. She passed away in June of 1974. Their daughter, Julie Summers, resides in Meridian with her husband, Jock, and girls Kara, Kendal and Kristen. Grandpa George's visits were filled with hugs, outings, and funny stories that will be often remembered and recounted.
In 1974, George married Mary Eileen Young. Eileen and their children, Daniel, and his wife, Jennifer, and their three boys, Danny, Andrew and Levi, and daughter Priscilla and husband Clint Williams, still reside in Texas. He was dearly loved and will be missed.
A memorial open house will be held for family and friends at Eagle Christian Church, 7695 W. State St., Eagle, Idaho, on April 5 from 2-4:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us in telling "George" stories and fellowship.
