Velda LaRae Rone
November 10, 1932 - April 11, 2013
LaRae was born in Oklahoma to Lillie and Walter Hubert. The family moved to Calipatria, California when she was six years old where they resided throughout her school years. She graduated from Calipatria High School in 1951. In June 1951 she married Joe Rone. Their first daughter, Debra Sue was born in 1954, their son Joe Alan was born in 1957. The family moved to Fontana, California where her husband was employed at ORCO Block Company until his death in 1987. While in Fontana their daughter, Ann Kathleen was born in 1961. After her husband's death LaRae remained in Fontana near her children and their families for a few years, then on a visit to Glenns Ferry to see her long time friend, JoAnne Lanham she decided to move here as she loved the small town and the people she met. She enjoyed her life in Glenns Ferry and loved her friends here. LaRae also owned a home in Lake Havasu, Arizona where she spent the winters, much of the time accompanied by her good friend Liz Gluch. She and Liz also traveled around Arizona visiting places of interest in Liz's motor home. For a few years LaRae owned and operated a shop in Glenns Ferry called "Wild Rose Collectables" and greatly enjoyed going to auctions and estate sales getting items for her shop. Thru the Wild Rose she was able to get acquainted with many of the folks in the community and became good friends with many. In March, 2011 LaRae's sister Etta Sparks moved from Carson Washington to live with her. LaRae very much enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, reading, oil painting and going to casinos. But her greatest joy was having most of her family near and the many friends she made while living in Glenns Ferry. She was predeceased by her mother and father, three sisters and her husband. She is survived by her sister Etta, daughter Debra and her husband Joe Rowan, daughter Ann and her husband Bernd Ramspeck, and son Joe Alan Rone and wife Diane, granddaughters Jennifer, Amy, and Elizabeth, grandsons Joe and Jeffrey and two great grand children Mikaela and Jace. At LaRae's request there will be no services and she will be buried at Carson, Washington. She was a proud supporter of the Glenns Ferry Swimming Pool and the Family has requested as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions be sent to Eastern Elmore County Recreation District's Future Skate Board Park Fund for Glenns Ferry at US Bank, 4 East Idaho Ave, Glenns Ferry, Idaho, 83623.
