Base announces death of airman Sunday
TSgt. Chris Carrier, 35, a 366th Fighter Wing Airman from Mountain Home Air Force Base, was found dead in his Meridian home Sunday, April 21.
A Meridian police spokesperson indicated no foul play is believed to be involved. At present, pending the coroner's report, authorities believe the Carrier, who had some medical problems, died of an accidental -- not deliberate -- overdose of medication. An autopsy to officially determine a cause of death was conducted Monday, according to the Ada County Coroner's Office. It could be weeks before a final coroner's report is released, however, as toxicology tests typically take about 6-8 weeks.
Carrier was a member of the base's Force Support Squadron and served in the Military Personnel Section.
"Today we lost a valued member of the Gunfighter family," said Col. Chris Short, 366th Fighter Wing commander, in a prepared statement released Sunday. "The Air Force is a close-knit family and the loss of one of our own affects us all. We understand this was a very tragic occurrence and our sympathy goes out to his family, friends and coworkers during this tough time. His professionalism and dedication to the Gunfighter family will not soon be forgotten."
He added Monday, "We're doing everything we can to help those affected by this tragedy."
Carrier is survived by his two daughters, Maiya and Jadyn, as well as his mother and step-father, Claudia and Orland Badley, and siblings Juliette Badley, Orland Badley, Andrew Carrier and Tonya Badley.
