John Knackert
John A. Knackert, 85, of Mountain Home, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at a Mountain Home care center.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, April 17, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
John was born on Nov. 26, 1927, in Milwaukee and was raised in Milwaukee. John enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1945 in Chicago. He was stationed on the U.S.C.G. Hemlock from 1946 to 1947, being honorably discharged in 1947.
John attended Aviation Mechanic School graduating in 1950, and began flying for Fuller Paint in San Francisco.
John married Pauline Groom on June 4, 1955. While living in California, they had two sons. The family moved to Idaho, where John worked at Edmarks, then went to work for the State of Idaho, from which he retired in Mountain Home.
John is survived by his son, David and wife Nola Knackert of Mountain Home, his sisters, Dorothy and Lucille, five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pauline, his son, John, and his brother, Frank.
