Clean-up appreciated
Dear Editor:
Thank you volunteers!
The area between I-84 and the Mountain Home Golf Course is an authorized Community Scout Camp for use by any scout group. Also, The city has obtained an easement across private property and built an extension of the Community Walk Path from 18th Street across Abbotts Canyon to the existing golf course sign. We hope to soon find grant funds to pave this portion.
These areas have needed a clean-up for some time. When James Warburton, a former Scout, heard of the need he volunteered his assistance.
Dan Marchant, Dale Hopkins, Charles Warburton, Joe (James's friend), and Joe (Dan's helper) quickly followed and began helping James cut dead trees, clean out bush piles, remove debris and prepare for the burn-off of this excess material.
Stan Franks, director of Parks and Rec and a long-time supporter of the Community Walk Path, after seeing the improvement the volunteers were making, agreed the area should be burned. He worked with the volunteer group to get the portion of city property adjacent to this area included in the burn.
AGAIN, "THANK YOU" to all the volunteers whose hard work made this project a success. We also want to express our thanks to County Commissioner Chairman Al Hofer, Rural Fire Commissioner Larry Jewett and Stan Franks for their help and support. We know the people of the community, who use the walk path and the Scout camp, appreciate these efforts. They have expressed it as they have used the walk path over the past two weeks.
