Robert Colson
Dr. Robert L. Colson, "Pastor Bob," 66, of Mountain Home, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013, at a local hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 18, at Open Door Fellowship, 410 E. 2nd North St., in Mountain Home. Inurnment will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Bob was born in Boise on July 11, 1946, and spent his school years on the Oregon coast where later his family enjoyed many delightful vacations over the years.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam aboard the USS Oklahoma City and later in the National Guard.
Bob married Janette Kean in Boise in 1974. They were blessed with a wonderful daughter Jennifer. Both Janette and Jennifer will miss Bob dearly as well as his church family, sister Jennifer Ortiz of New berg, Oregon and brother Dennis Colson of Kansas.
Bob explored many professional pursuits, but his true calling was as a minister and pastor. He began his ministry at Idaho City chapel after attending Trinity College in North Dakota. He received his Master's of Theology from Cole Center for Biblical Studies as well as his Master's of Divinity and Doctor of Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary. Bob also took and taught classes at Idaho Baptist College in Boise.
While at Cole, he filled many pulpits as part of Idaho Mountain Ministries, during which time he was asked to be pastor in 1993, at Open Door Fellowship in Mountain Home, where he was ordained.
He was well taught in God's word and passed that knowledge to his church family for the last 20 years.
His life was a living testimony to the power of God and an inspiration to all who knew him. Those who were fortunate to receive his in-depth teaching were blessed.
Bob finished the race and was greeted at his homecoming with a "well done, good and faithful servant." He was truly a man after God's own heart. He will be missed and his memory will be cherished forever.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lee and Eileen Colson, and his brother, Rodney Colson
