Bob Hoover
Robert "Bob" Wayne Hoover, 77, of Mountain Home, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at a Boise hospital.
On Thursday, March 7, a viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Services will also be held March 12 in Missouri Valley, Iowa, and burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, Iowa.
Bob was born Jan. 20, 1936, on the Sam Fee farm near Calhoun, Iowa, to Robert and Edith (Barnhart) Hoover. Later, his parents moved to the family farm west of Magnolia, Iowa. Bob attended and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1953.
On Feb. 14, 1954, Bob left the farm to join the U.S. Air Force and "see the world" -- and "see the world" he did -- Japan, Korea, The Philippines, Guatemala, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Greece, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Holland, England, Belgium plus almost all the 50 states.
Bob was stationed at Mountain Home AFB in 1972 and he absolutely loved the area and the local people. The mountains and the high desert held a special appeal to him as he loved to hunt.
He had a great fondness for Vizsla dogs and over the years owned several that were very special to him.
Bob retired as a master sergeant in March of 1980 after 26 years of military service. He then went to work for civil service and Northrop Aviation.
Bob married Judy Lee Riggie on Nov. 22, 1980, in Elko, Nev. They continued to live the military life for 10 more years as Judy was active duty Air Force.
Bob was blessed with two sons from his first marriage, Robert Wayne II in 1962 and Raymond Eugene in 1963. They were the joy of his life.
Bob is survived by: his wife, Judy, of Mountain Home; sons Robert of Stuart, Fla., Raymond and special friend Sue of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren Kasey, Raymond, Jr. Kassidy, Anna Marie and Amanda Sue, and numerous great-grandchildren; brother James Hoover and sister Ruth and her husband, David, of Magnolia, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Hoover.
