Emma Thayer
Emma Louise Thayer, 47, of Mountain Home, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at her home.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 15, at the American Legion's War Memorial Hall, located at 515 E. 2nd South St. in Mountain Home. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Emma was born Dec. 7, 1965, in Kansas City, Mo., to Alvin and Maralyn Coop.
After graduating from Fort Osaga High School in Independence, Mo., in 1984, Emma enlisted in the United States Air Force in August of 1984, serving until her retirement in 2004. She served as a heavy aircraft maintenance specialist on B-52, B-1 and EC-130H aircraft for the majority of her career, also serving as a squadron security manager and acting first sergeant.
Emma married her first husband, Kevin Yeakey, in 1985. They later divorced in 1998.
She met Brian Thayer in 1998 and they were married in 2001. Her son, Zachary, was born in Arizona in 2003, and her daughter, Rebekah, was born in Boise in 2005.
Emma and her family were an active part of both Grace Fellowship and Open Door Fellowship in Mountain Home.
Emma was known for her wonderful cooking and service to God, her family and friends.
Emma is survived by her husband, Brian, her son, Zachary, and daughter Rebekah, all of Mountain Home, her father, Alvin, and his wife, Crystal Coop, of Independence, Mo., her brother, Sherman, of Austin, Arkansas, her brother, Ray, of Lee's Summit, Mo., and grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to name.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maralyn.
