Questioning authority is what America is all about
Dear editor:
I have to take exception with Lola Mikoiajczyk's letter of Feb. 20.
Only a 14-karat fool would ever just follow whatever orders come down the pike in blind obedience.
Before I finally stopped dealing with the clowns on the Mountain Home blogsite, I had one of them try to lecture me on my old military service oath on how we're supposed to obey the orders of the president of the United States. Really? Just question nothing, no matter WHO is in charge? Just shut up and do it, right Komrade?
Our founders wrote our Constitution under a republic, not a communist state, so when our commander-in-chief does not follow the oath he himself swore to uphold, as an American, I have no obligation to follow him either. I'm not going to ignore our Constitution right along with him. That's called aiding and abetting in my book. I don't support mandates, takeovers and treason.
I would also suggest that Lola should read our Declaration of Independence, which specifically lays out instructions for dealing with an oppressive government.
I do agree with her though, that we should pray for our leaders, and I do that on a daily basis, from Psalm 109:8.
