Ellen Laible

Ellen Marie Laible, 94, of Glenns Ferry, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Feb. 6, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. until time of rosary at 6 p.m. at the Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Our Lady of Limerick Catholic Church with Father Benjamin Uhlenkott presiding. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Cemetery, Glenns Ferry.

Ellen was born June 14, 1918, to John and Louise Wuthrich Laible, the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Glenns Ferry High School and started working at Ferry Drug store, then at C.C. Anderson (which later became the Merc), followed by many years at the Idaho Power Company. She retired in 1983 and enjoyed traveling to visit with her family and friends in places near and far. She loved her first airplane ride to Seattle in 2005. She was also able to take a special trip in 2007 to see Yellowstone National Park, a life-long dream of hers. Ellen was an active member of Our Lady of Limerick Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary, and the Altar Society.

Ellen is survived by her nieces: Anne (Donald) Odell of Boise; Anne Louise (Dennis) Eels of Marsing; Cynthia (Jody) Allen of Glenns Ferry; Mary (E.J. "Chris") Christophersen of Glenns Ferry; Sharon (Dale) Fehr of Auburn, WA; nephews Benjamin Laible of Nampa; Charles Bloom of Boise; Karl John (Susan) Laible of Nampa; Paul Shrum of Glenns Ferry; Raymond (Kathy) Laible of Blackfoot; Richard (Sherry) Bloom of Nampa; Robert Laible of Nampa; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Karl, Frank, George, William, Benjamin; and sisters Gertrude Shrum, Marguerite McGill, and Frances Bloom; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ellen was born in the family home and lived there for 94 years until she moved to an assisted living facility. The family wishes to thank the caring angels at Poplar Grove Assisted Living and special friends Cheryl Rose and Donna Carnahan for all the love and support they gave our Aunt Ellen.

All who knew Ellen would say that she was truly a gift. She had a very generous, childlike spirit and was always ready to lend a hand where needed. She was a treasure, dearly loved, and will be greatly missed.
