Ken Smith
On the morning of Feb. 5, 2013, Kenneth John Smith, formerly of Helena, Mont., was met at the gates of Heaven. He was 73.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 11, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Ken was born Jan. 13, 1940, in East Helena, to Frank and Frances (Hudoklin) Smith. He was the youngest of five children. In later years, he moved to Lead, S.D., where he spent many happy years as a card dealer in Deadwood.
Ken was a dad, grandfather and a friend to many.
His passion was the New York Yankees. As an avid fan, he watched every Yankee's game he could find. He loved classic movies, music, college football and collectables.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family and friends: daughters Angela Smith of Idaho, Marla (Lance) Yuhas of Montana; brother Francis Smith of Montana; grandchildren Alexandrea Smith, Traci Whitehead, and Kyndra Thompson of Idaho, Brandon, Britton and Kansys Thompson and Kamae Meier of Montana; great-grandchildren Memphys and Mercedes Meier, Ayden, Wyatt and Whitney Thompson, all of Montana, and Brian, Morgan, Michelle and Benjamin Whitehead of Idaho; close friend Cheryl Isaacs and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Robert Smith; sister Isabel Smith, and both his parents.
You were worn out, but now you are at peace. We love you and miss you.
