Lucy Mallea
Lucia "Lucy" Mallea, 78, of Mountain Home, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at her home.
On Thursday, Jan. 24, a viewing will be held from 4-6 p.m. and a Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. all at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Mass will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 25, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Lucy was born June 29, 1934, in Munitibar, Spain, the daughter of Juan Martin and Clara Larrinaga. She was one of nine children.
She married Ben Mallea, who was also originally from Spain, on Feb. 27, 1954, in Spain. Ben brought Lucy to Mountain Home in October of 1960 and together they ran "The Basque Hotel" for many years.
Lucy later became a custodian for the Mountain Home School District, retiring in June of 1999.
Lucy enjoyed crocheting afghans and her plants. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Mary, and her husband, Charlie Mellen, of Boise, her son, John Mallea, of Mountain Home, her daughter, Teresa Mallea, and Bobby Wade of Mountain Home, her son, Mike Mallea, of Mountain Home, her brother, Julian, and his wife, Miren Larrinaga, of Spain, sister Eloisa and her husband, Felix Urrutia, of Spain, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, and several brothers and sisters.
