'Dear Santa...'
It has become a tradition at the Mountain Home News each Christmas to print letters submitted to Santa Claus by local area children. These wish lists were collected with the help of the "elves" at the Mountain Home Fire Department, who were designated by Santa to help answer mail sent to the North Pole.
Children can continue to drop off their letters to Santa Claus at a special North Pole-only mailbox in front of the Mountain Home News. The deadline for letters is noon today, Dec. 19.
With Santa's permission, the elves allowed us to reprint some of the letters delivered to Santa, who held onto a few of them because he thought they were special. The letters offer insight into the thoughts of children at Christmas and the types of gifts kids want these days. With their last names left out (Santa knows who they are), here are some of their thoughts, just as they wrote them.
We hope you enjoy this look at Christmas from the perspective of the little ones in our community.

I really, really want an Ipod & an barbie house with an elevator. I also want makeup and rabbit and american girl doll cloths. I also want IPod cases if I get an IPod. A new American girl doll that is named hope... and looks like me. I would also like a snowglobe. I would alro like some new lotton. I would also like a pink Basketball that says my name on it.
